Original Songs in Film

I was just rapping along Eminem to Lose Yourself and realized that this song won an Oscar for Best Original Song, so I just went on to check some other tracks in the same category and saw how many great songs were actually written for some particular film.
The first ever Oscar for Original Song was given at the 7th Academy Awards in 1934 and it went to Con Conrad and Herb Magidson for The Continental  in The Gay Divorcee .
Now, it would take a hell lot of time for me to post every single song that has ever won this award, and you can find them all on the internet anyway, so there's no point, really. I'm just gonna share my favorites and songs from the last decade.
Of course The Way You Look Tonight just has to be here. In 1936 film Swing Time, performed by brilliant Fred Astaire is definitely one of the most popular songs still to this day.
White Christmas from Holiday Inn (1942) is definitely one of my favorite holiday songs of all time. Performed by Bing Crosby and Marjorie Reynolds.
Another winter-ish classic would be Baby, It's Cold Outside from Neptune's Daughter (1949).
I Just Called To Say I Love You by Stevie Wonder is one of my favorite songs ever. I still listen to this from time to time. Undying classic. Song from The Woman in Red (1984).
(I've Had) The Time of My Life from Dirty Dancing (1987) has got to be one of the most romantic songs ever. It was so perfectly perfect for the scene.
I would lie, if I'd say that I didn't like My Heart Will Go On from Titanic (1997) performed by Celine Dion. Although, I wouldn't call myself a fan of the movie, but the song is truly amazing. I get goosebumps every time I listen to it.
Now we should take a moment to appreciate all great songs from animated features, because honestly, there's just so many.
1940 When You Wish Upon a Star from Pinocchio.
1989 Under The Sea from Little Mermaid.
1991 Beauty and the Beast from Beauty and the Beast.
1992 A Whole New World from Aladdin.
1994 Can You Feel The Love Tonight from The Lion King.
1995 Colors of the Wind from Pocahontas.
1998 When You Believe from The Prince of Egypt.
1999 You'll Be In My Heart from Tarzan.
2001 If I Didn't Have You from Monsters Inc.
And there's one more, but it happened in the past decade, so I'll post it a little bit later.
Best Original Songs in the last decade 75th - 85th Academy Awards:
2002 Lose Yourself from 8 Mile. That was the song that I've been listening to when I thought, hey, I should really know which songs were actually made for movies.. It is just so beautiful. I'm gonna steal someone's words, because I can't remember where I red this beautiful phrase, that this song has so many word and none is wasted.
2003 Into The West from The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King. Now, please, don't judge me, but I've never seen any of LOTR film, so I don't really have much to say about this, except for the fact that it really is beautiful.
2004 Al Otro Lado Del Rio from The Motorcycle Diaries. It is not very common for a foreign song to win, but this one did it.
2005 It's Hard Out Here For a Pimp from Hustle & Flow was a huge surprise for me. Especially when In the Deep from Crash was also nominated, I would've given it to this song.. Anyway, I guess it's okay to salute range and to say this is one of a very few songs that won Oscar not being a cliche classical sad and depressing song..?
2006 I Need To Wake Up from An Inconvenient Truth. I can honestly say that right now I am listening to this song for the very first time and this is just so beautiful.
2007 Falling Slowly drom Once.
2008 Jai Ho from Slumdog Millionaire not only won an Oscar but after collaborating with PCD became a worldwide hit.
2009 The Weary Kind from Crazy Heart.
2010 We Belong Together from Toy Story 3. The film itself for me is the best animated feature ever, so the song couldn't be taken any other way than as perfect.
2011 Man or Muppet from The Muppets.
2012 Skyfall from Skyfall. At some point I felt like the song was overplayed everywhere possible, but I would never argue that it wasn't worth it, and Adele is such a sweetheart, her acceptance speech was really genuine.

Well, it took me some time, and I am so sure that I've missed some great tracks, because I might know songs, but its titles, that's a little complicated, but oh well.. Hopefully this was at least a little bit useful, or interesting to read, even though, there's not that much to read, more to listen:) Anyway, now after posting all this I realized that I really should watch more animation, because I've only seen Beauty and the Beast and it makes me kind of sad..
See you sometime soon, have a nice week:) If you're reading my blog, don't forget to like on facebook, there's a little badge on your right. As soon as I'll get some more people there I will start posting trailers, pictures and all that fun stuff, that I wouldn't want to spam my blog with.
Bye bye lovelies!
